09.00 / 13.00 Meeting with the guide at the hotel reception. Departure to the ethnic village of Monsopiad, which is about 15 km from Penampang city center. This was the first village to open its doors to visitors in 1996 to introduce visitors to the traditions and culture of the Kadazan Dusun ethnic group.
The village of Monsopiadas is in a beautiful location, on the banks of the Mojon River. The village is named in honor of Monsopiad – a brave and fearless soldier, the leader of the tribe, whose family has lived in this village for 300 years. Here you can see Monsopiad’s “trophy” house, where the 42 real human skulls he acquired are still kept! The soldier was so bloodthirsty that the villagers began to fear him. Monsopiades challenged the villagers to a fight for a new skull, as no attackers dared approach the village. One day a sleeping Monsopiad was attacked by the villagers and beheaded. Bugan, the bird of luck, whose blessing Monsopiad had received at birth to defend the villagers from attack, had left the bloodthirsty soldier.
Here you will have the opportunity to visit the traditional houses of the tribe, see the ancient tools and tools, discover the traditions of the tribe and try some of them, you will be able to try your dexterity in the ancient games.
At the end, local dances accompanied by traditional music.
12.00 / 16.00 Return to the hotel.
