The delightful and vibrant city of George Town, the capital of Penang State, was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage City in 2008. This city with its own unique character is full of historical buildings, architectural monuments and a colorful mixture of different cultures. During the excursion you will visit:
– Fort Cornwallis is a bastion fort built by the British East India Company in the late 18th century. Fort Cornwallis is the largest permanent fort in Malaysia. The fort never saw combat;
-a colonial museum that will allow you to delve into Penang’s colonial past and experience the lifestyle of wealthy merchants through unique antiques;
– The Khoo Kongsi Temple, with its elaborate and highly decorated architecture, is a sign of the dominant Chinese presence in Penang.

Penang Island is a marvelous combination of nature, culture and history. During the excursion you will visit:
– Penang Hill is one of Penang’s top attractions and is a popular spot for those looking to escape the scorching heat of the big city. Penang Hill is located at an altitude of 833 m above sea level. The funicular opened in 1923 and has been connecting Penang Hill for 88 years. The most recent renovations of the funicular have increased the number of passengers carried and the speed of the train. The new funicular will take you to the top in less than half an hour, where the observation deck will offer stunning panoramic views of Georgetown and its surroundings, and further to the mainland. Penang Hill is home to many exotic species of flora and fauna. Some of the plants found here have existed in nature since the Jurassic period;
–Kek Lok Si Temple is the largest Buddhist temple complex in Southeast Asia, perched majestically on a hilltop. Among the most interesting objects of the complex, founded more than 100 years ago, are the stunning seven-tiered “Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda” and the 36 m high bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Construction of the “Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda” took 20 years. It combines the architectural styles of three different cultures: China, Thailand and Burma;
– The Tropical Spice Garden is a living museum of spices and other tropical plants. The garden is a treasure trove of over 500 living specimens of lush and exotic flora from around the world;
-batik factory, where at affordable prices you can purchase finished products made from fabric, hand-painted by master craftsmen according to unique sketches and ancient secrets of their ancestors. The factory was opened in 1973;
12.00 lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, continuation of the tour.
16.00 Return to the hotel, free time.
