Meeting with the guide at the hotel reception. Departure to Tenom Park.
The mountain road leads through the Crocker Ranges. On the way there is a beautiful view of mountains and forests. The highest point is 1,500 meters above sea level, so the road is often shrouded in clouds and fog. The fresh mountain air is very refreshing.
Tenom Park is located 160 km from the capital, Kota Kinabalu, which is about a 3-hour drive. It is the last stop of the Borneo Railway. The park is located near the town of Tenom, the unofficial capital of the Murut indigenous people, who make up more than 60% of the area. A must-see is the Tenom market, which sells local coffee, tobacco, honey and a variety of exotic vegetables and fruits. The prices in the market will pleasantly surprise you. Tenom is the most beautiful botanical park in Malaysia which was opened to visitors in 2001 and was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Today it is a favorite place for family vacations as well as for botanists. The park covers an area of 202 hectares and has a unique collection of wild orchids and hybrid orchids, an extensive collection of plants and trees, as well as ornamental shrubs and trees. The park has not only Borneo plants, but also plants and trees from other countries. The park is suitable for recreation with children. You will be taken by a train, you can ride bicycles, boats and even go fishing in the pond. Children will definitely love the animal park, which is home to both domestic animals and wild animals, as well as birds. You can taste Borneo honey at the honey center.
