08.00 Meeting with the guide at the hotel reception. Departure to the orangutan rehabilitation center in Semenggoh (30 km from Kuching). Semenggoh Center was founded in 1975 and its rainforest area is 40 hectares. The purpose of the rehabilitation center is the rescue, care and adaptation of orangutan orphans in a natural environment. Young orangutans first live in a “closed nursery” where they learn how to survive in the forest. Then gradually move to the “open kennel”, where greater freedom of movement is given, dependence on feeding and emotional closeness with the person is reduced. At the end of this rehabilitation course, most animals become completely independent and are able to live integrated among wild orangutans in the rainforest.

09.00 Orangutan feeding, then the animals come out of the forest and can be observed.
